Jasmin is the face behind Rootin’ For You and your biggest supporter for living the life you deserve. She is a trained doula and wellness coach that has a keen focus on motivating and uplifting the black community. Coming from a long line of birth keepers in her hometown, Dallas, Texas; this ancestral calling paved the way for the birth of Rootin’ For You.
At eight years old, Jasmin was worrying about getting wrinkles, so she pleaded with her granny to buy a few items for facials. Jasmin started concocting homemade elixirs hoping to slow the aging process, before middle school. Little did she know, this would be the beginning of a business 20 years later.
While she has always been an extreme advocate of self-care, her pregnancy journey is what catapulted her into the forefront of entrepreneurship. She was healthy and low risk, but somehow found herself being wheeled off to an operating room for an emergency C-section. It was during this season, that Jasmin transformed what had the potential to stifle her growth into a catalyst for change in every black family that crosses her path.
In 2020, Jasmin received her certification from the Black Doula Course, taught by Atlanta based doula, Earth. This training allowed Jasmin to offer services to black families with an emphasis on our own cultural practices. Since then, she has worked independently and with agencies to attend births at homes, hospitals and centers in the Dallas area.
Her dedication to uplifting black families also shines through in her willingness to teach the importance of nutrition in the household. She’s passing on the knowledge from endless nutrition classes; making it useful for every day people to apply at home in a practical way.
Additionally, she shares her vibrant personality with her supporters, The Rooted Family, on her monthly podcast Well Rooted Talks. Here, she dives deeper with like-minded individuals on topics of such as spirituality, lifestyle, and wellness.
With the help of her ancestors and trusting her intuition, Jasmin has found her way back to where it all started; the roots. And she’s using her talents as a light in the community!
To the women who came before me...
Three months before my mom passed, I called her in tears on my lunch break. I was tired of punching a clock and making someone else’s dreams come true. I was exhausted, overworked, and drained. No matter how well I exceeded at my job, they always wanted more. Living in a society that thrives off of instant gratification and greed had finally taken a toll on me. My mother encouraged me to take my first steps towards a rebirth. It seemed like just as I started truly living, I was watching my mother take her last breath; such is the circle of life.
My mother was a phenomenal woman. And that may be due to the fact that she was raised by another woman of great character; surrounded by virtuosity. I come from a long line of women that played the hand they were dealt in life and always managed to get the job done. They were teachers, beauticians, maids, and midwives. They walked so that I could run and now every step that I take, they’re right beside me. I’ll be forever grateful for the inspiration and love I receive from my ancestors.
